In an effort to heighten awareness of the issue of substance abuse and addiction recovery in our community, the GRAAB Coalition has proclaimed October as “31 Days of Prevention”. Working with our “Partners in Prevention”, the GRAAB Coalition seeks to continue building the framework for lasting community change for the citizens of Bradley County.
The “31 Days of Prevention” will address key events in the month of October, including National Crime Prevention Month, National Medicine Abuse Awareness Month, Drug Free Work Week, and Red Ribbon Week.
This month will provide opportunities for parents, youth, and anyone interested in learning more about the importance of providing a safe and healthy environment for our families.
Events during this time will include, but not be limited to, National Night Out with the Bradley County Sherriff’s Office, educational displays at the Cleveland Public Library and Cleveland Family YMCA, and partner support for CASA’s Moonlight Walk. Event information and general substance abuse facts and statistics will be circulated through GRAAB’s Twitter feed, Facebook page, and website. The entire month-long event will culminate with the celebration of Red Ribbon Week from October 23rd through 31st. New this year, GRAAB is using #31DaysGRAAB throughout our social media posts.
The mission of the GRAAB Coalition is to bring together concerned individuals, members of the community, and service providers to facilitate lowering illicit and addictive use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs in Bradley County by providing effective education, recovery, and support for youth, families, and the community.
