Times Free Press President Jason Taylor Speaks At Downtown Council Sept. 5

Jason Taylor, president of the Chattanooga Times Free Press, will be the featured speaker at the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce's Downtown Council meeting on Sept. 5. Mr. Taylor will discuss the future of the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

The event, sponsored by Docu-Shred, will take place from 7:30–8:30 a.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel located at 407 Chestnut St. The public invited to come early and stay late for networking. Admission is $10 and includes a full breakfast.

Jason Taylor is the president of the Chattanooga Times Free Press. He moved to Chattanooga three years ago from Honolulu, Hawaii, where he was the senior vice president of sales and marketing for the state’s largest newspaper.

Mr. Taylor was recognized as the 2006 Executive of the Year among the Gannett Company’s 96 daily newspapers. He also received the company’s Chairman’s Award in 2006 and 2007, as well as numerous other industry accolades. In 2010, he was recognized with the American Advertising Federation Silver Medal Award for lifetime achievement.

Mr. Taylor’s unique, high-energy approach to newspaper management has generated many new ideas that have been adopted across the country. He is one of the industry’s top-rated speakers and celebrates the fact that newspapers can continue gaining market share through creativity and increased accountability.

Prior to working in Honolulu, Mr. Taylor was employed with Georgia-based Morris Multimedia, Inc., where he served as general manager for The Times in Gainesville, Ga. He was also the director of advertising and marketing for The Daily News Journal in Murfreesboro, TN.

Mr. Taylor serves on numerous boards in the Chattanooga community, as well as for various newspaper organizations. He and his wife, Honey, have three young children – Hope, Haley and Jackson.
