Mary Ella Winchester Griffith, 87, a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2013.  

She was born on January 10, 1926, in Chattanooga.  She was a member of the White Oak Church of Christ and retired from the Tennessee Department of Human Services with 40 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Grady Winchester; mother, Bertha Richie Winchester; and brother, Charles Winchester.

Survivors include her children:  Gail (Jim) Fischbach of Chattanooga, June (Steve) Bowling of Chattanooga, Delton (Rhonda) Griffith of Signal Mountain and Lynn (Greg) Lewis of Nashville; grandchildren: Dana Fulmer, Teresa Matheny, Mark Daughtrey, Bart Bowling, Sara Griffith, Andy Lewis and Stephen Lewis; great-grandchildren: Matthew Harvey, D. J. Matheny, Zach Matheny, Matthew Adams, Hunter Daughtrey, Nicholas Daughtrey ; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 21, at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace with Minister James Eaton officiating.  Burial will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park.  Jim Fischbach, Mark Daughtrey, Steve Bowling, Bart Bowling, Andy Lewis and Stephen Lewis will serve as pallbearers.
