Afternoon Fire Damages Home in East Lake On Thursday

No injuries were reported in connection with a house fire in East Lake Thursday afternoon. 

The Chattanooga Fire Department received the alarm at 1:39 p.m. and responded to 3100 14th Ave., with five fire companies. Battalion Chief Lesley Morgan said a good portion of the house was engulfed in flames when the first firefighters arrived on the scene. Chief Morgan said it took the firefighters roughly 20 minutes to get the blaze under control. The fire caused substantial damage to the home.

Chief Morgan said the residents were not home at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation.


Cleveland City Council Votes To Keep Waterville Golf Course Open

The Cleveland City Council voted Monday afternoon to enter into a leasing contract with GSP Business Alliance in order to keep the Waterville Golf Course.   Discussions were previously held regarding closing the golf course because of the amount of money its upkeep costs.
