Here Come The Mummies is a successful musical act, accomplishing great success without the benefit (or hindrance) of a major record label contract or consistent mainstream radio play. Not many can say that. They have remained independent of the major record label; yet have managed to propel themselves to the top of the performing world – in demand for festivals, casino play dates, and even television shows like Fox & Friends.

But even these extremely talented ghouls know the value of public relations and national name recognition. Without a major recording label contract, this is an expensive venture. Just recording a high quality CD is expensive for studio time and equipment. Promoting that CD so that it sells and supports a tour is even more expensive.

So you ask, what are some ways to raise funds to pull off such a venture? The innovative souls at Here Come The Mummies came up with a program under the “Kickstarter” program. Basically, Kickstarter is a platform for funding projects. In less than 4 years, over $500 million has been pledged to over 35,000 projects. The boys in bandages are trying to raise $50,000 with their Kickstarter program. In just a couple days, they are already over $10,000.

Since they only mumble, grunt and groan, Here Come The Mummies need a PR firm to help them launch their sixth studio album into the stratosphere of radio, TV, and big-time music business promoters hands. For a donation as little as $5, or has high as $9,969, anyone can help with the cause and get really cool HCTM stuff like a T-shirts, a private concert, dinner for ten with the Mummies, an original signed Cass-Caster guitar, or even credits on their next CD. You want to have fun, have those Mummies bring a bucket of the Colonel’s chicken parts over to your house for ten of your friends, grunt and snort a bit, then perform a private acoustic performance right in your man cave.

When the program is complete in about 30 days, they will have raised $50K to get help with expenses of a large scale, professional media blitz. You can do it too. Make no bags of bones about it, HCTM are talented beyond belief, but without a major record label to take all their money, it is hard to make it in the music business. I’m betting they will pull it off, and I am not talking about their pants.

If you would like to see how the program works and even take a look at Here Come The Mummies different pledge levels, just click on > http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/787528134/make-cryptic-our-best-and-biggest-yet?ref=live. Feel free to help them out or design a program that suits you. But, remember that you aren’t begging – you need to give something of value for each donation level. In the case of Here Come The Mummies, they really came up with some fun items.

Roy Exum: Please Send Me Funny Jokes

It has been about 25 years or so since I had the opportunity to visit every county in the state of Tennessee and, as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society at the time, I met cancer survivors and listened to their incredible stories. I remember one man in particular who had bone cancer and one night he said he rolled over in bed and literally broke his arm in a very simple ... (click for more)
