Signal Mountain Genealogical Society Meets Feb. 5

The Signal Mountain Genealogical Society will meet at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the Walden Town Hall. 

The speaker for the day will be Joan Hanks. Her presentation, "2012 to 2015 -The Bicentennial of the War of 1812," will inform those in attendance of the remembrances and celebrations of that historic event.  

The hostess for the day will be Ellen Matthews.  Refreshments will be served at 1 p.m., and the business session will begin at 1:30 p.m. As always, guests are welcome.

A car came across the center line and grazed the right side bumper of a school bus in Bradley County on Monday afternoon. Three students were taken to the hospital for observation. NASA Employee Gets 10-Year Federal Prison Term After Being Caught In Child Sex Sting In Chattanooga; De Matties Placed Ad Looking For "Petite Young Teenage Slut"

Thomas de Matteis, 54, of Hazel Green, Ala., was sentenced on Monday by Federal Judge Sandy Mattice to serve 10 years in federal prison for coercing or enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity.
