Signal Mountain Resident Held Degree In Ornamental, Horticultural Landscape Design

Richard Lee “Dick” Dragoo Jr. died suddenly at his home Friday night of a heart attack.

He was born in Chattanooga to Nancy and Bud Dragoo in 1956. He grew up in Signal Mountain and was an active part of the Brady Point Neighborhood Gang. He attended Baylor School and graduated from Red Bank High School. Dick then attended UTK, majoring in ornamental, horticultural landscape design. It was there he met his first wife, Lisa Courtney.

Dick and Lisa moved to Atlanta/Woodstock Ga, where they raised their two beautiful children, Julia and Alex. He worked for many years in the landscape industry in Atlanta.

He had recently moved back to Signal Mountain and married Linda Cavin. Richard loved nature, Signal Mountain, the Goodwill Store, the Lord Jesus Christ and his beloved cat, Bucky. He was very grateful for the fresh start he found in the fellowship of the Canton, GA Celebrate Recovery renewal group. He will be remembered with love and joy for his love of helping his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Cavin Dragoo; children, Julia and Alex Dragoo; their mother, Lisa Dragoo; his mother, Nancy Dragoo Goss; sisters, Anne Ramsey and  Susan Sasse; nieces and nephews, John and Elizabeth Sasse, Michael Tabb, Megan and Joey Courtney.

The family will receive friends Monday, Sept. 3, from 5 -7 p.m. at the North Chapel. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 1 p.m. in Marr Chapel at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church with Dr. Bill Dudley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Celebrate Recovery, 8385 Bells Ferry Rd., Canton, GA. 30114
