TBI Awards 16 Law Enforcement Agencies With Crimestoppers Program Grant Money

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has awarded sixteen law enforcement agencies across the state of Tennessee with state appropriated grant money to use exclusively for Crimestoppers programs at the local level.

TBI began taking applications in June after the 107th General Assembly appropriated a sum of $100,000 to be awarded to local governments to institute a Crimestoppers program or enhance an existing program. TBI was charged with administering the grant funds. All agencies who applied received $6250. Below is a list of the recipients.

Hardin County Sheriff’s Office

Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office

Town of Cornersville Police Department

Williamson County Sheriff’s Office

Jackson/Smith County Crimestoppers

Smithville Police Department

The grant funds stipulated that no more than 20% of the money awarded to applicants may be used for administrative costs, supplies, equipment or advertisement. 80% of the money awarded must go directly to rewards for the Crime Stoppers program. The $6,250 each is receiving will be broken down into $1,250 for supplies, advertising, equipment, administrative costs and $5,000 for rewards.

City Council Ad Hoc Committee To Study Moving Elections To August, Adding More Districts, Staggering Terms
