A Whitwell woman has been charged in connection with a wreck in March 2010, in which a Sequatchie, Tn., man was killed when he was ejected from his pickup truck after a traffic crash on Interstate 24.
Ruby Payne, 60, was indicted by the Hamilton County Grand Jury on charges of vehicular homicide and reckless endangerment..
Witnesses told Chattanooga Police that a 1998 Chrysler Sebring, determined to have been driven by Ms. Payne, was weaving in and out of eastbound traffic near Browns Ferry Road when she left the roadway and struck the guardrail. Her car then went back into traffic and struck a 2006 Ford F250 pickup driven by John L. Taylor, 63.
The truck left the roadway, hit an embankment and rolled several times. Mr. Taylor, who was ejected from the vehicle, was taken to Erlanger Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Ms. Payne was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
