Whiteside, Phillip Arron (LaFayette)

Phillip  Arron  Whiteside, 37,  of  LaFayette, GA,  died  Friday  August  3,  2012  at  home.


He  was  preceded  in  death  by  his father,  Dwight  Whiteside.


He is survived  by  his  mother,  Connie  Maffett  Whiteside,  LaFayette;  sister,  Missy  Lewis,  Banne,  WY;  brother,  Matthew  Dwight  Whiteside,  LaFayette; and aunts,  uncles  and  cousins.


Funeral  will be from  the  Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Tuesday, August 7  at  2 p.m. Service will be conducted  by  Rev.  Jim  Powell.


Pallbearers  are  Steve  Owens,  Shannon  Clark,  Moe  Cabe,  Kevin  England,  Eric  Gibbs,  Andy  LeGrande,  Darren  Johnson and Damon  Lindsey. Interment  will follow in  LaFayette  Cemetery. Honorary  pallbearers  are  Jon  Childs,  Colin  Parris,  Channing  Wilson,  Brandon   Wilson,  Justin  Johnson,  Jesse  Johnson,  Sean  Brewer and Colin  Brewer.


The  family  will  receive  friends  at  the  Funeral  Home  Monday, August 6  from  4-9 p.m.


In  lieu  of  flowers  contributions may be made  to  American  Cancer  Society  or  your  favorite  charity.


The  arrangements  are  by  Wallis-Wilbanks  Funeral  Home  of  LaFayette.

Keenan Scott Slaughter, 52, of Jasper, TN, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed Slaughter and Millie Duvall Sloan. William “Bill” Wills Dowdy, 82, died on May 23, at Community Care of Rutherford County in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, following a very brief illness. He was born Jan. 1, 1931, in Brownsville, Tn., to the late Arvil Odell Dowdy and Alma Juanita Bright Dowdy. Bill was a graduate of Red Bank High School. Woman Killed In Early-Morning Wreck On Thrasher Pike

A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Thrasher Pike early Saturday morning. Soddy Daisy Police Chief Phillip Hamrick said a female passenger was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported to Erlanger Hospital by LifeForce helicopter about 3:15 a.m. The driver was transported by Hamilton County EMS. It is believed he had non-life threatening injuries. ... City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge. The City Council on Tuesday is to consider a resolution to apply for a $25 million federal TIGER grant. The city would still have to come up with $21,825,000 through "local funds or grants."
