Brown, Jimmy Lee (Birchwood)

Jimmy Lee Brown, 51, of Birchwood, TN, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at his home. 

He was preceded in death by in father, Ray Charles Brown; brother, Junior Wayne Brown; and a infant son, Jonathan Brown. 

Mr. Brown worked at Cleveland Chair for fifteen years and at Olin Chemical for four years. He enjoyed building model cars and watching TV. He was a member of the Burdette Baptist Church. 

He is survived by one daughter, Hope Scott of Cleveland; two grandsons, Dakota Scott and Landon Scott both of Cleveland; mother, Sarah Hughes Brown of Birchwood; brothers, Steve Brown, Mitchell Brown and his wife Sondra all of Birchwood and David Brown and his wife Trish of Cleveland; sister, Kathy Colbaugh of Delano, TN; three nieces, Reverend Rachel Gravley and her husband Reverend Jimmy Gravley of Birchwood, Amber Owens and her husband Reverend Justin Owens of Dayton and Tara Roberts and her husband James of Pikeville; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces and nephews.

The Remembrance of Life Services will be Saturday, August 4, at 2 p.m. from the North Ocoee Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Reverend Rachel Gravley and Reverend Jimmy Gravley officiating. Interment will follow in the Beta Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends Friday, August 3, from 5-8 p.m. at the North Ocoee Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes who has charge of the arrangements.

Keenan Scott Slaughter, 52, of Jasper, TN, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed Slaughter and Millie Duvall Sloan. Charles Edward Ruth, 75, of Cleveland, TN, died on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 . He was nicknamed “Billy Boy” by his grandmother, many friends and family continued to call him “Bill”. William “Bill” Wills Dowdy, 82, died on May 23, at Community Care of Rutherford County in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, following a very brief illness. Woman Killed In Early-Morning Wreck On Thrasher Pike

A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Thrasher Pike early Saturday morning. Soddy Daisy Police Chief Phillip Hamrick said a female passenger was ejected from the vehicle. City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge. The City Council on Tuesday is to consider a resolution to apply for a $25 million federal TIGER grant. The city would still have to come up with $21,825,000 through "local funds or grants."
