Jed Mescon, an anchor for WRCB-TV, is the recipient of the Tennessee Health Care Association’s (THCA) 2012 Long-term Care Communicator Award. This award recognizes journalistic excellence in the coverage of long-term care issues.

Each week, Mr. Mescon invites a representative from the long-term care profession to be on his “3 Plus You” mid-day news broadcast. He has done several in-depth pieces on long-term care for Channel 3 and has participated in the Alzheimer’s walk and the Chattanooga District Nursing Home Olympics.

Mr. Mescon accepted the award at a special gala during THCA’s Convention & Trade Show in Chattanooga, where individuals, groups and facilities were celebrated for their outstanding accomplishments in long-term care. Awards are presented annually in a variety of categories, from volunteer of the year to distinguished association service.

“Every day, caregivers and volunteers work to improve the quality of life for nursing home patients,” said THCA Executive Director Jesse Samples. “These awards recognize those who excel in their service and dedication to the elderly and disabled.”

THCA is a nonprofit organization whose members include long-term care facilities located throughout the state. For more information about nursing homes, visit www.thca.org.
