Wheel Tax Idea Axed In Bradley County; Lillios Wins School Board Seat By Single Vote

Bradley County voters on Thursday shot down the idea of a wheel tax to fund projects for the schools.

The measure called for a fee of $32 per vehicle and $16 per motorcycle.

It would have raised $31 million for education. 

Chris Turner won the Bradley County School Board District 1 seat. He had 1,282 votes to 693 for Laura Williams Mountain and 659 for Ben Atchley Jr.

  

Nicholas Lillios won by a single vote over Melvin "Teddy" Bryson for the District 3 School Board seat. It was 801 to 800.

For Cleveland City Council District 3, it was Avery Johnson 813 to 651 for William "Bill" Wheeler.

The District 5 seat was won by Dale Hughes with 789 votes. Jonathan Porter had 347 and Tucker Johnston 294.

Donna McDermott won a seat on the Charleston City Commission by two votes. She had 56 to 54 for Larry Anderson and 32 for Tony Whitener.

Police Seek Suspect In Armed Robbery In Hixson

A man is being sought in an armed robbery Thursday morning in Hixson. At approximately 11:51 p.m. on Thursday, Chattanooga Police responded to a robbery at the Mapco at 5500 Highway 153 in Hixson.
