Bagley, Gene Spann (Dalton)

Gene Spann Bagley, 102, of Dalton, GA, passed away Thursday August 17, 2012 at her residence. 

She was the daughter of the late J. K. (Jim) and Vienne Spann and was also preceded in death by her husband Author Bagley; brothers and sisters, Earnest Spann, Winola Spann Clark, Fred Spann, Lucy Johns, Katherine S. Powell and J. K. Spann, Jr. 

Gene was a member of Dug Gap Baptist Church. She graduated from Dalton High School and from Berry College with a Bachelors Degree in education, and taught elementary school at Valley Point Elementary for 40+ years. At the time of her passing, she was the oldest living graduate of Berry College. Gene enjoyed gardening. 

She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Jim and Cecilia Bagley of TX. and Earnest Bagley of SC; sister Cornelia Johns of Dalton; grandchildren, Jamie Bagley, Jennifer Bagley, Courtney Bagley, Amanda Bagley and her son Owen; nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 21 from Dug Gap Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Bagley and the Rev. Byron Edens officiating. Burial will follow in Whitfield Memorial Gardens. 

The family will recieve friends at Love Funeral Home Monday, August 20 from 5-7 p.m.

The family asks that flowers please be omitted and memorials be made to Dug Gap Baptist Church, 2301 Dug Gap Rd. Dalton, GA 30720.

Keenan Scott Slaughter, 52, of Jasper, TN, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed Slaughter and Millie Duvall Sloan. He was an employee of Lowes Home Improvement Store in Kimball, TN. William "Bill" Wills Dowdy

William “Bill” Wills Dowdy, 82, died on May 23, at Community Care of Rutherford County in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, following a very brief illness. He was born Jan. 1, 1931, in Brownsville, Tn., to the late Arvil Odell Dowdy and Alma Juanita Bright Dowdy. Bill was a graduate of Red Bank High School. Woman Killed In Early-Morning Wreck On Thrasher Pike

A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Thrasher Pike early Saturday morning. Soddy Daisy Police Chief Phillip Hamrick said a female passenger was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported to Erlanger Hospital by LifeForce helicopter about 3:15 a.m. The driver was transported by Hamilton County EMS. It is believed he had non-life threatening injuries. ... City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge. The City Council on Tuesday is to consider a resolution to apply for a $25 million federal TIGER grant. The city would still have to come up with $21,825,000 through "local funds or grants."
