Earnest Winston Hughes, 69, of Dalton, GA, died on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Winston was born November 28, 1942 in Dalton, a son of the Carl C. and Minnie Marie Raburn Hughes; and was also preceded in death by his brother, John Carlston Hughes. 

He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Cindy and Arthur Beavers, John Hughes Jr. and Amy Hughes, Yvonne Hughes of Rome, GA, April Hughes of Virginia; special great-niece, Ashley and Jamie Fisher of Dalton; great-nieces and nephews, Amy and Ron Steele of Tennessee, Jessica McClullogh and Kayleigh Martin of Chatsworth and Jarrett Hughes if Indianapolis, IN; great-great- nephews, Matthew and Harley Hales; and several other great-great-nephews. 

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Earnest Winston Hughes will be held Saturday, August 11, at 4 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Pastor Edward Hughes and Pastor Lonnie Starnes officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Whitfield Memorial Gardens with John Hughes, Jr., James Fisher, Dale Williams, Josh Hales, Charles Hughesand Paul Beavers serving as pallbearers. 

The family will receive friendsfrom 5-9 p.m. Friday, August 10 and after 10 a.m. Saturday, August 11 at the Ponders Melrose Chapel who has charge of the arrangements.
