A Chattanooga memorial service for Melinda Cecile Whiteman, who died July 31, 2012, after a brief illness, will be Saturday, Aug. 11. She was 60.

It will be at 6 p.m. at Calvary Chapel on South Broad Street.

Ms. Whiteman was a frequent contributor to Chattanoogan.com as was her husband, Bart Whiteman, who died in 2006.

She, like her husband, was a lover of the arts. She was especially involved in an arts movement in Dade County.

Ms. Whiteman worked as an associate broker with Keller Williams Realty. She was an antique dealer much of her life, owning her own stores both in Washington, D.C., and on Lookout Mountain.

She lived at Lookout Mountain, Ga.

Her daughter, Mary Bartlett Whiteman, said a second memorial service will be held around Christmas at the St. Mary's Church in Alexandria, Washington, D.C.
