Bruster’s Real Ice Cream and Nana’s Frozen Custard left the Ice Cream Social at the Chattanooga Market with bragging rights and trophies for the best frozen treats, as voted on by 1,000 Market-goers.  The eighth annual event to benefit the Children’s Home/Chambliss Shelter was held on July 15, and brought record crowds, selling out by 3 p.m.

Participants sampled ten flavors from five vendors, including the two winners along with Blue Bell, Mayfield, and The Ice Cream Show.  Bruster’s Cake Batter took home the prize as “Best Pure Flavor” while Nana’s Mint Chocolate Chip won the “Best Flavor with Inclusions” category.  Both Nana’s and Bruster’s have won in years past.

The five vendors donated their ice cream so that all proceeds from tickets purchased could go directly back to the programs to care for children at CH/CS.  Serving over 500 children every year, the agency cares for children who have been removed from their homes in the Chambliss Shelter and in an early childhood education program called the Children’s Home.  The Ice Cream Social will raise over $5,000 for the charity.

The Ice Cream Social is an annual event in partnership between CH/CS and the Chattanooga Market.  This year, the event fell on National Ice Cream Day, and was a perfect celebration of the frozen treat loved by all.
