Emmett L. Coker, 88, of LaFayette, GA, passed away Friday, July 20, 2012 at his home.

Rev. Emmett Coker was a minister of Church of God of Prophecy for more than 50 years.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, Columbus”Bud” Coker and Mary Dockery Coker.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ruth C. Coker; children, Dianne Pettigrew (Wayne), Rick (Michelle), David (Janice), Bruce (Danita) of LaFayette and Dale(Susan) of Woodstock, GA;  sister, Hazel Thrasher, Rossville; brother, Ed (Virginia) of LaFayette; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be from Corinth Baptist Church Sunday, July 22 at 2:30 p.m. Service will be led by Rev. Byron Minter, Rev. Faye Harmon and Rev. R.D. Wallin. Pallbearers will be Wayne Pettigrew, Jr., Andrew Coker, Scott Coker, Dustin Coker, Michael Leming, Bradley Doan, Jr., Jack Lewis, Jr. and Nathan Burgess. Interment will be in LaFayette Memory Gardens.

Family will receive friends Saturday, July 21 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, July 22 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home who has charge of the arrangements.

Woman Found Dead On Lovell Road; Police Looking For Man Who Is On Tennessee Sex Offender Registry

A woman was found dead on Sunday morning at 8912 Lovell Road, and police are seeking a "person of interest" in the case.
