Support For Marty Lasley For Soddy Daisy Judge - And Response

Friday, July 20, 2012
I am writing in support of Marty Lasley for Soddy Daisy city judge. Marty has known me all his life as he was a few years older than I am.  He was the preacher's kid at the church where we both grew up. I guess the first memories come from him being a teenager in our church. Marty always possessed great leadership within the youth group and was well respected by his peers and the adults he came in contact with.  He has always had great integrity and decency and those character traits are hard to find in today's society.

Since he has lived in Soddy Daisy for 50 years, some may say he could not be fair because of knowing the people so well.  I find the opposite to be true.  I believe because of Marty's love for the community he grew up in, his love for justice, and his overall moral compass, he will be an excellent city judge.  He cares for our city.  He cares about making it a better, safer place to live. That's why my vote is for Marty Lasley.

I want to remind my friends in the Blackberry Farm Subdivision, at Daisy Elementary and at Dallas Bay Baptist Church to vote for our friend Marty Lasley for Soddy Daisy judge.

Some of us know him as a neighbor and/or Sunday School teacher. Others know him because he coached our children on the Middle Valley soccer fields or on the courts during Upward Basketball. He has provided wise legal counsel to others in a professional setting.

He is also known in Soddy-Daisy as a fellow SDHS graduate, great life-long friend, dad and husband.

Soddy-Daisy has never had a judge who is a Soddy-Daisy resident. It is time to correct that. Who better to serve as the first REAL Soddy-Daisy judge, than a highly qualified attorney who lives here, grew up here and knows the people of the community?

Marty has earned his credentials with 25 years in the courtroom, including two years as a Hamilton County Judicial Magistrate, and a Law Degree from Vanderbilt University.

It is now our job to go to the polls and vote to elect Marty Lasley as the first REAL Soddy-Daisy Judge.

Roy Exum: So How Am I Really Doing?

I’ve gotten hundreds of jokes since Tuesday when I wrote about feeling a little puny lately and expressing my belief that laughter is the best medicine. After breaking some bones in my arm as I slept last week and having no idea there were already some other fractures, it looked pretty certain I had a case of “The Big C.” I’ve always felt that stands for “courage” but the medical ... City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge. The City Council on Tuesday is to consider a resolution to apply for a $25 million federal TIGER grant. The city would still have to come up with $21,825,000 through "local funds or grants." The city has already spent $175,000 on the project. Improving ... (click for more)
