Creative Discovery Museum is hosting Countdown to Kindergarten, the museum’s first-ever event specifically for rising Kindergartners and their families, on Thursday, from 5:30-8 p.m. This event is designed to create excitement for the very first day of school. Families are invited to participate in special activities, including hearing and vision screenings from Dr. Robert McGarvey from Kapperman and White Eyecare, and Dr. Shawn Lancaster from the Speech and Hearing Center.
Hands-on activities involving colors and shapes will keep children engaged as Museum staff highlights the skills kids need to be Kindergarten ready. Parents will receive checklists to take home with fun ideas to develop skills during the summer, ensuring their child is ready for the first day of school. A school bus will be parked on the Museum’s Plaza, for children to take tours and get more comfortable getting on and off the bus. Families can also taste test healthy snack ideas at the fruit and cheese wrap table. The first 200 Kindergartners to arrive will receive a free drawstring backpack, courtesy of Office Depot on Gunbarrel Road.
This event is specifically for rising Kindergartners and their families. This is a free event and registration is not required.
Creative Discovery Museum is at 321 Chestnut Street, Chattanooga, Tn. 37402.
