Nightclub operator Darrin Webb, who is out on parole on state and federal sentences, is dealing with a new arrrest.

Webb, 46, was charged with possession of a controlled substance for resale after a probation and parole search at his house at 1401 McBrien Road on Friday.

Authorities said they found a large amounts of steroids inside his bedroom and bathroom. Located were four vials of testosterone Cypionate, some Anadrol pills, three blister packs containing 30 Oxymetholone pills and 173 pink pills believed to be steroids/testosterone and two unknown pills.

Webb, who has been working recently at Southern Comfort, 311 Broad St., was sentenced in 2006 to 10 years in prison for paying a bribe to a General Sessions Court clerk.

The prison term handed down by Criminal Court Judge Don Poole was consecutive to a 46-month-sentence Webb received from Federal Judge Allan Edgar in September 2005.

Judge Poole said Webb had six felony convictions and was classified as a Range 3 persistent offender.

He said the case was not exactly like the one in Federal Court, and he said bribing a court official "is a serious matter."

Webb was earlier convicted on three mail fraud cases. Judge Poole said those were three "widely separated" cases. He also had three convictions in Georgia for operation of illegal video poker machines.

In Federal Court, Webb was given 42 months on convictions for teaching others how to make an incendiary device and the ticket fixing case. He was given an additional four months on a revocation of a previous federal sentence for insurance fraud.

Roy Exum: Hypocrisy And Horses

I am still wincing over the fact a horrendous bill passed in the state legislature that would make whistle-blowers into criminals would have actually gone into law had it not been for Governor Bill Haslam’s eleventh-hour veto. Called the “Ag-Gag bill,” similar efforts in other states have also soured because it is no more than a Catch-22 trick to protect those who abuse animals, ... (click for more)
