Representative Tom Graves (R-GA-09) honored World War II veteran Grady Green on Monday in his Dalton office. Mr. Green served in the U.S Army during WWII from 1942-1945, and served in Italy, Africa, and Russia. He died in 1966.
Rep. Graves awarded Mr. Green the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge 1st Award, and the Honorable Service Lapel Button.
Unfortunately, much of the detail regarding Mr.
Green’s military service was lost due to a fire that destroyed part of his military record in 1973. Because of that fire, Mr. Green never received most of the medals that were due to be bestowed upon him. Accepting all of these honors on Monday on Mr. Green’s behalf were his son and daughter, Mr. Terry Green and Mrs. Teresea Kostreba.
