Quinisha Brabson Murder Trial Postponed

Charged With 2010 Shooting Death Of Cleveland Resident Timmy Nichols

Monday, July 16, 2012 - by Judy Frank

A Chattanooga woman who told police she was defending a friend when she shot a Cleveland man to death two years ago was scheduled to go on trial for second-degree murder on Tuesday, but it was postponed.

Quinisha Renee Brabson is charged with killing 50-year-old Timmy Nichols shortly after midnight on April 8, 2010, following a confrontation at 1800 E. Main St.

Nichols, who was pronounced dead at Erlanger Hospital, was shot once in the left shoulder.

Ms. Brabson did not deny firing the fatal shot, police testified during her arraignment, but maintained that did so because she thought Nichols planned to rape her friend, Laura Williams.

After Nichols was shot, his vehicle accelerated and ran over a stop sign before slamming into a utility pole near the intersection of Main and Willow.

Two passengers in that vehicle, Cleveland residents Lisa Greenlief and Jeffery Young, are expected to testify during the trial before Criminal Court Judge Rebecca Stern.
