Tthe Nightfall Concert Series will present San Francisco-based singer-songwriter, guitar player and producer, Chuck Prophet at 8 p.m. on Fridaiy. Local band, Endelouz, will open the set at 7 p.m. The bands will be performing on the River City Stage in Miller Plaza, and, as always with the Nightfall Concert Series, their performances will be free to the public.
Chuck Prophet first achieved notice in the American psychedelic/desert rock group Green on Red, with whom he toured and recorded in the 1980s. He has also recorded a number of solo records and gained prominence as a musician and songwriter. His compositions and co-writes have been recorded by musicians like Alejandro Escovedo, Solomon Burke, Heart, Michael Grimm, Kim Carnes, and more. After years of mostly European and UK success, 2002’s No Other Love was a breakthrough record for Prophet stateside due to the success of the summer single "Summertime Thing" and endorsements from Lucinda Williams, who gave him the opening slot for her summer tour.
Local opening act, Endelouz, draws from their diverse musical pasts to develop a unique blend of soulful rhythms and jangling pop melodies tinged with elements of old school R&B. Formed in 2008, Endelouz considers their music to be a return to a more decadent time in rock and roll.
The Nightfall Concert Series features mobile food vendors, as well as a newly-installed misting tent to help concert-goers beat the heat
