Friday, July 13, 2012

The East Ridge Code Enforcement Division and East Ridge Fire Marshal’s Office has condemned the front building which fronts Ringgold Road of the Days Inn, due to the numerous health and fire code violations in the building.

The occupants were to be relocated to other rooms on the property by motel management. Investigators will be conducting a follow up on Monday. The remainder of the property will have a 10-day corrective action plan with a follow up inspection with East Ridge officials and the Health Department.

East Ridge Police were notified of a possible bed bug infestation in room 217 at the Days Inn, at 6510 Ringgold Road, on Friday at approximately 9:50 a.m. Officers arrived on the scene and confirmed that the room had numerous bed bugs.

Investigators with the East Ridge Code Enforcement Division and the East Ridge Fire Marshal’s Office also responded to the scene. East Ridge authorities, along with the Hamilton County Health Department, are conducting a joint investigation into the extent of the infestation and the appropriate course of action.

While on the scene, several smoke detectors were found to be missing or not operational. The fire marshal’s office has expanded their investigation to insure the property is in compliance with all applicable fire and safety codes. Updates will be released as information becomes available.
