Sandy B. Chambers Awarded Legion Of Honor From Kiwanis International

Sandy B. Chambers was awarded the Legion of Honor from Kiwanis International at its recent convention in New Orleans, La.  

The face of Kiwanis International changed in the summer of 1987 when delegates at the 72nd annual convention voted to allow women to join the organization. Ms. Chambers was presented the Legion of Honor by the International President Alan Penn for 25 years of service as a Kiwanis member and as one of the first women to join Kiwanis and its mission to serving the children of the world. She is president of the Kiwanis Club of Chattanooga since October, 2011.

Ms. Chambers is a financial adviser with Classic Wealth Advisory of Raymond James at 537 Market Street, Suite 105 in Chattanooga. She joined Classic Wealth Advisory of Raymond James in July of 2011 after seven years in charge of the trust department for FSGBank after she organized the department in 2004. She spent 12 years in the trust department of Pioneer Bank/First American Bank/AmSouth Bank (now Regions Bank). Prior to working in the trust industry, she worked in public accounting in the tax department of Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Ms. Chambers has a BBA in accounting and a Master of Accountancy from the University of Georgia in Athens. She holds a CPA certificate in Tennessee and Georgia, and the designations of PFS (Personal Financial Specialist), AEP (Accredited Estate Planner) and CTFA (Certified Trust and Financial Advisor). Sandy is an officer of the Fund for Excellence and is active in other civic and charitable organizations. She is past president of the Estate Planning Council of Chattanooga and Chattanooga Tax Practitioners. She is also a member of the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.


Georgia's Unemployment Rate Drops To 8.1 Percent In April

The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that the unemployment rate in the Northwest Georgia region declined to 8.1 percent in April, down two-tenths of a percentage point from 8.3 percent in March. Head Of BB&T's Chattanooga Commercial Banking Operations To Plead Guilty To Making Fraudulent Loans

The head of BB&T's Chattanooga commercial banking operations has been charged by federal authorities with making fraudulent loans. Tracy Brown is set to plead guilty to bank fraud on June 4.
