Michael Wayne Stuart, 61, of Harrison, died unexpectedly at his home Wednesday, June 27, 2012.

He was born April 28, 1951 in Dayton and was preceded in death by his father, Warren “Son” Stuart.

A resident of Dayton until 1992, Mike was a graduate of Rhea Central High School, class of 1969. He was an auto mechanic for 20 years and then worked for Hamilton County as a truck driver for 17 years until his retirement. He was an enthusiastic drag racing fan and was a member of the Maple Grove Baptist Church in Harrison.

Mike is survived by his wife of 25 years, Pam (Marler) Stuart of Harrison, mother and step-father Edith (Colbaugh) and Robert Matthew of Dayton, son, Warren Stuart of Murfreesboro, three daughters, Cindy Stuart of Cleveland, Megan Genter of Red Bank and Emily (Marty) Gaffin of Harrison, several brothers and sisters and three grandchildren, Emma Henderson, Kaitlyn Gaffin and Cameron Gaffin.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Maple Grove Baptist Church on Birchwood Pike in Harrison with Rev. Adam Holloway and Rev. David Ferguson officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Harrison Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. and one hour before the funeral at his church.

The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton.

Woman Killed In Early-Morning Wreck On Thrasher Pike

A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Thrasher Pike early Saturday morning. Soddy Daisy Police Chief Phillip Hamrick said a female passenger was ejected from the vehicle. City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge. The City Council on Tuesday is to consider a resolution to apply for a $25 million federal TIGER grant. The city would still have to come up with $21,825,000 through "local funds or grants."
