Hoss, Stanley, Starnes, Vital Now In The Running For Sessions Judge Post

Wednesday, February 08, 2012

Six candidates have applied for consideration for appointment to a judicial vacancy in General Sessions Court.

The latest to apply are attorneys Bryan Hoss, Lloyd Stanley, Gary Starnes and Patricia Best Vital.

Attorney Hoss said he applied as a caretaker for the vacancy. If appointed, he has pledged not to seek the position in the August election. He is the only candidate to apply as a caretaker.

Applying initially were Chief Magistrate Larry Ables and prosecutor Lila Statom.

Candidates have until Friday at noon to submit applications for the seat that was held by Judge Bob Moon. The County Commission plans to make the choice in early March after private interviews.

Attorney Starnes, as well as attorneys Rob Philyaw and Ron Powers,  have picked up papers to run for the vacancy in that election.
