«Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge Kayak Trip Dec.
8
Join Outdoor Chattanooga for a special trip to the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge on Sat., Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. We'll kayak from Blythe Ferry to Hiwassee Island and take in the thousands of birds that call the Refuge their home this time of year. Cost is $45 per person and includes all kayaking gear, guides and transportation from Greenway Farm. Adults and kids ages 14 and older are welcome.

New Year's Canoe Trip on Florida's Suwannee River Jan. 2-6
Outdoor Chattanooga will host a special New Year's canoe trip on N. Florida's 
Suwannee River Wilderness Trail, Wed., Jan. 2 through Sun., Jan. 6, 2013. The Suwannee is a slow moving, black water river that flows through miles of quiet, Florida backcountry. The trip will offer three days canoeing and two nights' primitive camping in the trail's special riverside campgrounds, which feature screened, shelters, rest rooms and hot showers. Bookending the canoe trip will be first and last day stays at two Florida State Parks: Stephen Foster and Suwannee River. Cost for the trip is $300 per person and includes all camping and canoeing gear, meals, camping fees and guides. Participants will be responsible for their own transportation from the Chattanooga area to Florida. Advanced payment via cash or check required to hold a reservation. NCCC welcomes Appalachian environmental activist Jay Leutze to Greenspaces for a free presentation at Greenspaces, from 6-7:30 p.m. 
 
Reindeer Run in Lafayette, GA Dec. 8
The Optimist Club of Lafayette wants you to come run or walk with bells and antlers through their historic downtown. 
 
Girls on the Run 5K Dec. 8
Young women of all ages can come support this program in Cleveland, TN, which gets girls from 4th - 8th grade healthy and running.
