Bill W. Stewart, 84, of Benton, TN, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 in a local hospital. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Delia Kirkland Stewart; brothers, Paul, Frank and Parker Stewart; and sisters, Bonnie Gilbert, Kate Maclelan and Edna Lillard.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Stewart; daughters, (Penny) Molly Kerr and husband, Roy, and Pricilla Callahan and husband, David; son, George Barnes and wife, Gwen and sister, Geri Grubb; four grandchildren, Howell Kerr and wife, Kayanne, Amy Gray, Blake Callahan and Aaron Barnes; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, December 21, at Zion Baptist Church with the Reverend David Peters and the Reverend Kurt Benson officiating. Interment will be held on Saturday, December 22, at 11 a.m.in Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. 

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, December 21 at the church prior to the service.

Grady E. Gouger, age 80, of Whiteside, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018. Martha Freels, age 90,   of Signal Mountain, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, January 13, 2018.  Martha was born January 19, 1927 in Troy, Ohio, to Curtis and Georgia Holder. City Council Considering New 2-Year $600,000 Contract With Father To The Fatherless

The Salvation Army is at capacity with its cold weather shelter at 60 and the Community Kitchen has 108 so far in the cold weather shelter, officials said Tuesday night.  Kimberly George said, "This is the most the two of us have had so far."
