The Hamilton County Democratic Party is endorsing Senator Andy Berke for mayor of Chattanooga, Chairman Paul Smith announced Thursday.

“Senator Berke has shown strong leadership in Nashville on education, the environment and jobs, all issues of major importance here in Chattanooga as well,” said Mr. Smith. “The mayor’s office is nonpartisan, and he has consistently been able and willing to reach across the aisle to work with both Democrats and Republicans, something that will also be invaluable to success here.”

Mr. Smith praised Senator Berke’s outstanding campaign organization and fundraising success. “Again, he has been able to gain the support of people across the political spectrum. We look forward to working together with him to help solve Chattanooga’s problems, and realize its promising future.”
