A local center is offering free help with college plans. The Educational Opportunity Center is funded by the Department of Education to offer Tennessee and Georgia residents help with choosing a college, choosing a major, completing admission paperwork, completing the FAFSA, and assistance with getting a GED. They work with any accredited college in the United States.
"We also specialize in assisting the military and their families, veterans, youth that have been in foster care and those that may be homeless and want to find a better future," said Debby Corey,
program resource specialist with the Educational Opportunity Center. "There is free money out there (Pell grants and scholarships) that we can help you find and we can explain and assist with student loans as well."
The Educational Opportunity Center has several locations in Chattanooga and the surrounding counties where staff can sit down and help participants through the process. All of the center's services are completely free.
