Ascension Lutheran Church will hold its annual Christmas Eve service on Dec. 24, at 7 p.m. The service will include the singing of traditional Christmas carols, the reading of the Christmas story from the Gospel of Luke, and the serving and receiving of Holy Communion.
This year, the primary musical accompaniment will come from the newly-refurbished Moller 2 manual pipe organ played by Lynn Frye and Tom Wolfe. Guest musicians Danielle King and Alex Woodard will also offer special music on flute and trumpet respectively. As is customary, the service will conclude with the singing of Silent Night by candlelight.
Ascension Lutheran Church strives to be a community that is welcoming to all people. Everyone, regardless of religious background or preference, is welcome to attend this and all services at Ascension Lutheran Church. Holy Communion will be served at this service. The reception of Holy Communion at Ascension Lutheran Church is open to all baptized Christians regardless of age or church background or affiliation.
Founded in 1913, Ascension Lutheran Church is one of Chattanooga’s oldest faith communities and the oldest congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) in the Chattanooga area
