Christmas Eve services at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, Signal Mountain, will be held at 4, 7, and 10 p.m.
The 4 p.m. service focuses on children and families and will include anthems by St. Timothy’s Choristers and St. Timothy’s Ringers.
The later services begin with a prelude program offered by Dan Landrum, hammer dulcimer, and the following music ensembles of the church: St. Timothy’s Festival Choir, Schola,and Zammarin.
Featured soloists include Laura Wilkerson and Sharon Dunn, soprano; Kathy Tugman, alto; Tarbell Patten, tenor; and James Kee, bass. Special instrumentalists are Alexandra Ricks, violin, and Gail Chapman, timpani.
Incense will be used at the 10 p.m. service only.
The prelude at 7 and 10 p.m. will begin with the Huron Carol (“’Twas in the Moon of Wintertime”), arranged by Steve Phillips and Dan Landrum. Settings of the following carols follow: “Coventry Carol,” “Torches,” “Rocking,” “God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen,” “Good King Wenceslas,” “Sans Day Carol,” and “What Child is This.” Carols will also permeate the full Christmas Eve liturgy, which includes Holy Eucharist. “Domine Deus, Rex Coelestis” from Vivaldi’s Gloria will be sung at the Offertory, and Bob Chilcott’s “The Marvellous Birth” will be sung at Communion.
