Summit Land Use Planning Meeting Is Oct. 16

  • Wednesday, October 10, 2012

The Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Agency (RPA) is undertaking a land use planning study for the Summit area between the I-75 interchange at Enterprise South and Collegedale.  The RPA provides land use and transportation planning services for the City of Chattanooga and Hamilton County.  This effort is being conducted to provide guidance on appropriate land uses in response to activity in the area including:

·         City of Chattanooga annexation of a portion of the study area

·         Requests for rezoning

·         Completion of the 1-75/Apison Pike Interchange connector road

·         Proposed future widening of Apison Pike

The RPA will hold two public meetings in the Summit area to gather input on future land use and development patterns.  The first meeting, an open house format, will be to engage property owners located within the study boundary in order to gather information and hear comments and suggestions given current activity in the area.  This meeting will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 6-8 p.m. in the conference room of the Summit of Softball Complex located at 8646 Apison Pike, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.

The purpose of the second meeting, planned for sometime in November, will be to share outcomes from the October meeting and obtain input from other area stakeholders.  The RPA will use information collected from these meetings to draft land use recommendations to guide future zoning and land use decisions.

For more information about the Summit planning process, contact the RPA staff at 423 757-5216.
