Lifetouch Closes Local Olan Mills Plant With Loss Of 380 Jobs

Shortly after acquiring Chattanooga-based Olan Mills, Lifetouch has announced the closure of the Chattanooga plant.

That means the loss of 380 local jobs.

Olan Mills had plants t Shallowford Road and Amnicola Highway.

Kelvin Miller, Lifetouch official, said Lifetouch will "work to increase increase efficiency by transferring the photographic operations performed at the company’s Chattanooga facilities, part of its recent Olan Mills acquisition, to existing Lifetouch photographic and printing facilities."

She said a Lifetouch operation at Preservation Drive will remain open. It has 200 employees and hires as many as 350 on a seasonal basis.

The Olan Mills operation will be phased out through September.

Employees will be offered severance packages.

Man Who Survived By "Playing Dead" Points To Talley, Grace As Robbers Involved In Shooting Of Him And Rapper Brikk

The California agent for a promising Chattanooga rapper on Tuesday afternoon identified Dexter Talley and Alonzo Grace as two of five men who burst into a Highway 58 area duplex and robbed and then shot him and Robert "Brikk" Brown.
