Female Worker Suffers Injury At Volkswagen Plant

  • Thursday, August 25, 2011

A Volkswagen Chattanooga team member was involved in a work-related accident resulting in a serious, but non-life-threatening injury on Wednesday, VW officials confirmed.

Scott Wilson, spokesman, said, "Volkswagen Chattanooga emergency personnel responded immediately and medical attention was given. We are reconstructing the series of events that lead to this accident in order to avoid it in the future.

"Team member safety is our very first priority and we are deeply concerned about our colleague who was injured. The company takes every incident seriously and is fully committed to building a strong safety and health culture which strives to provide an injury free environment."

A worker at the VW supplier park said the employee lost a finger when her glove got caught in one of the assembly line machines. The employee said it resulted in a line shutdown.
