Prosecutors Ask 1st-Degree Murder Verdict In Robbery Gone Bad

Prosecutors on Thursday morning asked a Criminal Court jury to find drug dealer Terrence Dewayne Lewis guilty of first-degree murder in the slaying of 20-year-old UTC student Evan Derry. The jury in the courtroom of Judge Barry Steelman was deliberating in the trial that started last Friday. Prosecutors acknowledged that the victim was at the scene at N. Bishop Drive on a drug deal in the Dec. 28, 2017, incident. With him was Baxter McCurry, who was owed a large amount of money by Lewis. McCurry was later killed in a motorcycle wreck, but the state played his initial interview with police as well as two court appearances. Defense attorney Josh Weiss said there were gaps ... Tree Falls On CFD Station 16 During Early Thursday Morning Storms

Witness Says "Paranoid" Johnson Was Smoking Cocaine-Laced Cigarette Prior To Vine Street Murder

A witness said 32-year-old Andre Johnson was smoking a crack cocaine-laced cigarette and acting "paranoid" before he shot at a woman, then whirled around and killed a man at a house on Vine Street. Juvenile Arrested After Stealing Vehicle And Leading Authorities On Chase

Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office deputies were involved on Wednesday, in a pursuit of a stolen vehicle being pursued by Collegedale Police Department. The pursuit began near the 5580 block of Little Debbie Parkway. Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office deputies joined in the pursuit near the 7400 block of Old Lee Highway. The Tennessee Sports Writers Association has announced its 2024 All-State Boys Basketball Teams and the Chattanooga-area saw 12 student-athletes honored. Leading the way was newly crowned Class 1-A state champs Chattanooga Prep with two selections, junior Eli Gaines and sophomore Derrick Robertson.
